 Odetta Holmes (1930 - 2008)known as Odetta, an African-American singer, actress, guitarist, songwriter, and a human rights activist, often referred to as "The Voice of the Civil Rights Movement." Her musical repertoire consists largely of American folk music, blues, jazz, and spirituals. An important figure in the American folk music revival of the 1950s and '60s, she was a formative influence on dozens of artists, including Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, and Janis Joplin.

Recorded live in 2006, ZAPPA PLAYS ZAPPA finds guitarist Dweezil Zappa paying tribute to his late father, the quirky, boundary-pushing singer/multi-instrumentalist/composer Frank Zappa. Joined by guitar virtuoso Steve Vai and drummer Terry Bozzio, along with Napoleon Murphy Brock (vocals, saxophone, flute), a veteran of the elder Zappa's band, Dweezil embarks on a set of Frank's best known tunes, including the bizarrely bluesy "Cosmik Debris" and the spry, giddy "Don't Eat the Yellow Snow." A fitting homage to an eccentric rock icon, this concert successfully captures the senior Zappa's adventurous, zany spirit, and allows room for Dweezil to turn in performances that would make his dad proud.
