Description

The Insanity Chronicles on CD

Hyper-obscure Pennsylvania thrash metal outfit DEMENTIA formed in 1988 and endured a number of lineup shifts during the band's infancy. Led by guitarist Bill Schaeffer, an instructor at Hawk Music known locally to be an impressive shredder, many of the ideas that would ultimately make up The Insanity Chronicles were in place from the start. Initially inspired by the likes of SLAYER, VENOM, IRON MAIDEN, and KING DIAMONG, Bill's songwriting fragments were pieced together by the members as they practiced two to three times a week, honing their skills with the hopes of securing as many live shows as possible. By 1991, DEMENTIA had settled on a three-piece lineup aligned on a raw and aggressive direction, finding Schaeffer joined by Heath Moser (vocals/bass) and Brian Riffle (drums). It was this trio that would enter Signal Sound Studios in Quakertown, PA to track the The Insanity Chronicles with engineer Rick Statkus, resulting in 10 songs/32 minutes of taut and crunchy thrash with sneering vocals and frenzied lead breaks, not to mention some creative nuances more melodic in nature. However, for reasons largely unknown, the sessions were never officially released. According to vague details online, limited numbers of probable CD-Rs with varying cover art eventually appeared in 1996 and 1999 (at which point Bill had an all-new lineup), but at present the album has been largely relegated to YouTube... ... until now. Over three decades after it's recording, Divebomb Records is excited to resurface The Insanity Chronicles, giving diehard thrash fanatics a chance to explore the music of DEMENTIA at a higher quality than ever before. Completely remastered by Jamie King Audio, this proper CD reissue also features brand new cover art and a 12-page booklet with lyrics. For the fans, by the fans!
